Another record from Uncle M – that means in advance that the content promises really good music. In the past, the label from Münster has always had a good hand for young talented bands. Great Escapes from Spelle in Lower Saxony is one of them. After the release of their debut album To My Ruin I’ll Go Gladly (2015) now a 5 track EP called Shivers And Shipwrecks. Already the opener The Walking Deadline stands for the musical mood on this album – it offers straightforward and wonderfully catchy emo-punk.

Noisy is a good example of this, which is about the fact that we have to deal with the topic of right-wing radicalism in our society right now, unfortunately far too often again. Let It Ache invites you with a great chorus to join in and should certainly reach the audience live. With Antiartikulatioin there is also a German-language text on the EP – the band also stands very well and is my personal favourite. Doves of Winter – the last track of the album is characterized by a melodic bass riff and shows the band a somewhat experimental and joyful side. The 12″ EP comes in a limited screenprinted version and is in no way inferior to the content. (awayfromlife.com)
